Artificial intelligence (AI) had the potential to revolutionize research in various fields. By processing large amounts of information, AI could help researchers refine and accelerate the achievement of research results. Although artificial intelligence was already used in multiple fields and stages of science, its full potential seemed far from being reached and from realizing the full impact of AI on research. In the future, AI could contribute to optimizing the entire research workflow, from data collection to final analysis. However, the use of AI involved new challenges that could distort the research process, and as the application of AI grew exponentially, more efforts would be needed to continue monitoring its effects on research standards and to develop new evaluation measures. The event was attended by representatives of the academic environment (students, graduates, and teaching staff) and representatives of public and private institutions active in the field of European affairs. • Lect. Dr. Ionuț Cristian Pistol (Faculty of Computer Science, "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iași, Romania) • PhD student Mihaela Clincu (Center for European Studies, "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iași, Romania) • PhD student Irina Clipca (Center for European Studies, Faculty of Computer Science, "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iași, Romania) • PhD student Ioana Ursachi (Center for European Studies, "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iași, Romania) Discussion agenda: • The uses of artificial intelligence in education and research were explored; • What future LLMs (Large Language Models) implied for the academic community and examples were discussed; • An applied exercise: using AI in a specific case was conducted; • Academic competencies necessary for students and researchers in the context of AI tool development were considered; • The possibility of using AI while respecting the requirements of ethics and academic integrity was debated."
